Innovations is the Consumer Electronics Manufacturers Association's prestigious competition, which honors product excellence in Design and Engineering. The Design & Engineering Honors Program recognizes the most innovative products in the categories of Accessibility, Accessories, Audio, Components, Computer Software, Computer Hardware, Home Appliances, Home Theater, Integrated Home Systems, Mobile Electronics, Mobile Office, Retail Resource, Satellite Systems, Small Office/Home Office, Specialty Audio and Video. Entries in the Innovations 99 Design & Engineering Honors Program were judged by a panel of 25 prominent industry experts. For the fifth year, the Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA) endorsed and acted as advisors to the Design & Engineering Showcase. Product evaluations are based on weighted criteria: value to user, aesthetics, contributions to the quality of life as well as the product's innovative qualities.
